No matter what we say or do, The years since 1952 Continue to accumulate With accelerated interest rate. But this birthday's different from the rest: The first one spent in the Northwest! With new friends, new work, new terrain And lots and lots and lots of rain. However, we must not forget: It's still God's Country when it's wet. And where else can one so delight At the appearance of direct sunlight? But in all of this there's none so dear As the woman who brought us here; And no sun rays quite match the grace Brought each of us in your smiling face.
Though I have maintained my own site [jeffrysteele.com] since the late 90s, it has been primarily concerned with my music: recordings, arrangements, performance, etc. Here assembled in one place are most of the prose (and some light verse) that seem worthy of sharing -- some of which relates to music, the rest of which relates to matters such as politics, spirituality and music technology. Some of it sounds dated, some of it naive, but hopefully many of you will find this endeavor -- which takes the place of my bi-annual newsletter -- of interest.
